The Rabbinical Yeshiva currently serves as the Chabad shul, attended by thousands of Jewish tourists who pass through the city every year. A recent article in the Jerusalem Post stated that 12 million tourists visit Venice annually, including 300,000 Jews.
The Fast of Esther (Hebrew: Taanit Esther) is a dawn-to-nightfall fast held the day before Purim to commemorate the fast of Queen Esther and the Jewish people of Persia. It is a time for reflection, charity and prayer.
